On 24th June 2017, St Ives Surf Life Saving Club held the annual St Ives Biathlon. The event pulls people from all over the region and this year saw the highest number of competitors. In addition to the junior, novice and main event, they also held a Mini Athlon for the younger members of the club. The Main event is a run from the harbour to Carbis Bay beach and a swim back, the juniors and Novice is to Porthminster Beach and a swim back and the Mini Athlon was a small run and a wade for the 6/7 year olds, and for the 8/9 and 10/11 just a swim out into the harbour, around a bouy and back. The younger competitiors had a great time and were thrilled to receive medals for their efforts and a selection of prizes from local companies. The adults received cups for winners of specific groups and a goody bag including vouchers for a pasty and a pint. It was such a great event and I managed to get some great photographs of people starting and finishing the race. Some of my favourties are here and the rest can be found on www.karenodell.photography
