Last week, I had the pleasure and privilege of being able to photograph some artwork for Annabel Wilkes. Annabel creates beautiful collographs that have amazing texture and colours. Collograph plates are printed similarly to etching. Ink is deposited into all the areas of the plate as an intaglio process then excess ink is removed carefully afterwards, leaving it only within the recesses. I visited her home and photographed the artwork using portable studio lights to ensure that the lighting and colouring of the artwork was correct. The collographs really are beautiful and you can see the amount of work that goes into them. Annabel works from the Porthmeor Studios Print Workshop in St Ives and runs courses on Monday and Thursday evenings. To book a place on the course, or for further information you can contact Annabel Wilkes via her website www.annabelwilkes.co.uk.
